Honestly I don’t even know where to start. Everything lately that is going on in this world sickens me to the core, depresses me, and I know I am not the only one it all has impacted. It takes me out of my element because yes I do wear the world on my shoulders as I have always been told. The hardest part for me is knowing that my child has to grow up in such a cruel world. I beg all of you people out there reading this to spread love and peace each day and not just after atrocities happen. Stand up for what you believe in but do it peacefully. Love will always win because in the end as the saying goes we all breath the same air and bleed blood just as anyone does who gets cut. We all need to understand something and my motto has always been “Learn History But Do Not Live It”, we need to let history be just that: History. I understand the outrage with Historical monuments, statues and so forth but at the same time are we going to change street signs or names of countries or names of buildings? While I do NOT condone hate in any form I do feel that tearing History apart is like tearing into our souls. Each generation has to learn history so history does not repeat itself. However if we delete History as an educational sense then what are we teaching future generations to help them understand why hatred is not the answer if no one else will? My point is where my heart is with everyone of the world and especially with what has been going on in America lately I feel that the division will not stop until ALL people, ALL sides sit back and THINK for a moment. Is taking down history solving anything? No. My wish for all of humanity is to find peace and love within because that is where it starts.

As the New Year of 2017 is not even a full week over, the most horrific things around the world have continued to happen. Especially recently in the United States of America. I am appalled by what so many cold hearted people have done to others and yet this is supposed to be a Country of Unity!

Mental Health Care is something that is needed for ALL individuals that desire it but also for individuals that are incapable of making that decision. That is why we need to stand together and BE THERE for one another! A listening ear and a shoulder to lean on for those that have no one, for those that feel so lost and cannot even cope with themselves let alone the people in the world. Society needs intervention! Why does it take horrible events to happen for people to pull together and even then not everyone unites?!

I always say there are people worse off. The one thing that bothers me is you can take a handful of people whom have been through horrific circumstances and they make that choice they choose to be kind to others and loving and yet you have that handful of people that have also gone through some horrific circumstances and they choose to kill, to rape, torture, to humiliate, abuse others. Many of us wish to know why. I don’t think there will ever be an explanation. The only thing I know is if Mental Health Care were affordable and possibly freely provided to the public by truly compassionate people that maybe just maybe society would have a chance. Then again some people are just pure evil. If someone has the urge to kill or rape or torture that to me is pure evil. I will be the first person to a million percent support people who get help and turn their lives around but Mental Health Care can only do so much and then Justice plays a role. Humanity of all needs to help one another………..

Dear Father that left Me

Dear Filippo Franchina (my biological father) born on October 12, 1957 currently living in or around Sicily, Italy and possibly S. Teresa Di Riva Italy this letter I write to you to help me heal.

First of all YOU are my Biological father. Own it. Secondly you have absolutely no idea how the hopes of me reconnecting with you and the years between have torn through my heart. The only thing I ever wanted to know was WHY. Why did you leave my mom and me? To go and tend to your ill mother or live your second life? For all I know you already had a family before meeting my mom! You lied to her and to yourself but this is about YOU leaving your daughter who is ME! If you had a family already you should have been honest! After we got reconnected in 2012 through the help of someone who I consider my adopted sister (she knows who she is and I love her and her family) in Italy you had the opportunity to stay in contact. You sent me a photo and did respond to a few letters I have saved. Then I received a threatening letter supposedly by a woman who claims to be your real daughter. I am the type with open arms to love all people and I would have been happy to have a half sister if that is the case. However that letter has always haunted me from her. She was rude and cruel. I will never know the truth. Father you OWE me that truth. Somehow I have to realize that I may never know. Perhaps you owe whoever you’re with an explanation instead of acting like I don’t exist. You had the opportunity to grow some man testicles and own up. If you really wanted to stay in contact with me you could have! Grown ups make choices either you own up to your flaws or you run. I will never forget that you ran. I will never forget that you ran again. If I ever got to meet you in person or hear from you again the only thing I want to know is the truth not some shitty excuse. Have the decency to do that because as far as I am concerned you are not even worth the word Father.

Love Always the Daughter you may never get to Know,

I Will Not Succumb

As I mince the words of love and peace

My words won’t change how cruel humanity has become

I will not succumb

My soul will continue to fly with love

To Smile or Not to Smile

The topic I am about to discuss will offend some parents, however put yourselves in your child or childrens shoes for once.

“Smile!” this infamous word used right before a moment to be captured either in photos taken by some parents, for school photos, or by others. The word so overused and so pressured it takes away from the genuine expression. It saddens me that children especially are forced in schools and otherwise to smile. If they wish to smile then great but if they just rather not then let them be themselves.

The other week my child did not look forward to school photos. He said that school officials tell the children “you must smile because smiles are prettier”. He also stated that he would just smile so he would not get in trouble. He even had a sticker put on his shirt as he got out of school for the day that read something on the lines of “Smile picture day is tomorrow”. I was internally upset that I took the sticker off his shirt and threw it away. Literally. We tell him many times to be himself and that is all that matters. Yet other people try to instill fear into children because of a facial gesture! Really?! What has society come to? There is nothing wrong with a child if he or she prefers to have a photo with a small grin or no smile at all. It doesn’t mean they are upset or weird or unhappy. Our child told us as well that other children also do not want to “smile” all the time and it bothers them being forced. This is something that also starts at home people! Children take in everything around them like sponges and so many adults want kids to be these perfect little creatures molded into societies expectations. How about taking a look at your own flaws for once and give some of these children a break! Does our child smile in some photos? Of course! However it is not forced it is genuine. Besides, the sweetest photos of children and people in general are those where they are just captured in the moment.

Children unfortunately have enough pressure on them as it is. The least any of us parents and people can do is let them be themselves. Is that too complicated? It shouldn’t be. Please remember children are precious and human too. Not robots.

Love Letter to World

Waters flowing

Intensity ongoing

Beaded with misery

Hope rising

Inflicting pain

Don’t fail me

In recent events and past events and possible future events I am so sickened by the constant back and forth degrading and bickering of who did what and whose fault it is and all the finger pointing as if all the adults are in Kindergarten saying “I didn’t start it” or “It’s not my fault” or “But they are the ones that did it first”.

Let me remind you all of a little motto I go by, it’s called LEARN HISTORY BUT DO NOT LIVE IT.

There, if I couldn’t make myself any clearer and regardless of this offending anyone each individual in this world can help stop racism by realizing that pointing fingers does no good. Do I acknowledge racism? Yes I do. and before any of you want to say I am another one of those “white” people whom are uneducated about it let me tell you a few things: First of all I am not white (a sheet of paper is), secondly I have a definite knowing of how racism feels ever since I came to America when I was a little girl and before some of you ignorant fools say anything I AM legal.

I am ashamed of what my child has to grow up in. A world of blatant chaos that is all due to ignorance. It starts with the individual. Not color. If you were brought up to be ignorant you will most likely turn out that way unless you are smart enough to use your god given brain and see the difference of choices that you see before you and make your own path. Instead of cracking ignorant jokes with your peers about people that spread hatred choose your own path. Instead of being too scared to speak up just speak up anyways. I have learned that even if it kills me I will NEVER shut up. NEVER. Because of what my mom and I went through in life I have grown into a person not a woman but a person that will speak my mind. If it offends anyone they don’t have to read or listen to it. I will not walk around eggshells no matter who I am around. I refuse to be thrown into categories. Racism is a very touchy subject but if you ask me it is all sides who are at fault but I will be the first person to say I REFUSE to be held accountable for what some peoples ancestors went through. I refuse to be held accountable for the killings of some that are happening today in society just because some want to point fingers at one specific race. I am human I am not a color. If society would look at it that way maybe just maybe racism would stop.

Then again it will never end because unfortunately there are still too many blind sided in this world. The ones that see they are the only ones targeted.

My family and many I know love ALL walks of life but ALL lives should matter. Remember that.

Peace and Love to ALL races because we are human,

Sara-Loretta Hardin
